Max's Electric Bikes

Our Story

How Max's Electric Bikes began, and why we're here.

Peter Kern

I grew up on two wheels, BMX racing as a kid, chasing speed and freedom. Like a lot of people, life got busy and my bike slowly disappeared from the routine. For nearly 30 years, I was off the saddle.

Everything changed on a family vacation in Grand Teton National Park. I hopped on an e-bike and felt something I hadn't felt in decades: the simple joy of riding. The hills were no longer a barrier, the ride was fun again, and I realized how many people could get that feeling back with the right bike.

That moment stuck with me. I started Max's Electric Bikes with one goal: make biking more accessible and more enjoyable for more people. Whether you're commuting, getting back in shape, riding with your family, or just looking for a better way to explore, we'll help you find an e-bike that fits your life.

We're here to make it easy: friendly guidance, real service, and a shop you can trust long after you roll out the door.

Our Mission

Help more people ride more often.

We make e-bikes approachable, reliable, and genuinely fun, backed by expert support and service that lasts long after the sale.

Test ride first

You wouldn't buy a car without driving it. Every bike we sell comes with a free, no-obligation test ride.

Honest guidance

We'll tell you when a cheaper bike is the right bike. No commissioned salespeople.

Factory-trained service

Every bike we sell is professionally assembled, safety-checked, and supported by dealer-backed brands.

Community included

Thursday evening rides, demo days, and clinics bring our customers together long after the sale.

Real stores, real people

Five local locations across PA and NJ. Walk in any day and meet the team.

Long-term support

Tune-ups, warranty work, and advice stay free for as long as you own your bike.

The Team

Meet the owners behind every store.

Every Max's Electric Bikes store is run by a local managing partner who lives the brand and knows the roads you actually ride.
